Location : Darwin and Palmerston, Northern Territory
As Dave Turner Engineering
Dates : 2016
A feasibility study was conducted looking at various options for upgrading the SCADA system in an electricity power station from the old Conitel based C2025 RTUs to the current DNP3 based SCD5200s.
Dates : 2015
A study was conducted into various communications issues that PowerWater were experiencing from various types of IEDs (mainly protection relays) to the RTUs is some sub stations.

SCADA Interconnect from APA Group NT to PowerWater
In the Northern Territory, APA Group NT (formerly know as NT Gas) transport natural gas from various wells sites to the gas turbine electricity generating stations operated by PowerWater. PowerWater needed better visibility of the state of the gas pipelines supplying their fuel.
Dave (working for Invensys) engineered an SCD5200 RTU to receive certain data items from APA Group's Honeywell Experion PKS and forward this to three PowerWater control room sites. The APA Group data was received by Modbus over a serial link, then after conditioning, exported to three PowerWater sites using Modbus and DNP3 over TCP/IP.
